Of course he wanted to be killed so that Tommy taffy can leave but only cutting through tubes and wires like that. It was also just way too easy to kill Rez. The book should have been a lot longer and should have given a look into Rez' history. If you introduce an otherworldly ultra-celestrial being like Rez then I need more info and backstory which was not really given. At least it's not that possible but I am not a doctor so. A normal kid that age would have passed out as soon as the knife reached the bone of the first leg.īut no, she stays conscious until the very end of the procedure.Īlso she just dies after he burned the wound which is also kind of incorrect becauswonce the wound is burned its sealed and she cant lose more blood or get an infection like that.

The people on the book have to go through so much torture and not once they pass put from pain at the appropriate time.įor example when Tommy cut off the sisters legs and sat her down on a heating plate thingy to burn the wound. It was still scandalous and not for the faint of heart but in no way as good as the shorts on reddit. Compared to the shorts, this book was rather disappointing. I got into this book by reading the short stories on reddit which automatically took me in with how scandalous and harsh it was written. I wish i could give this book a better rating, for how excited I was to finally read it. and likes a horrifying cocktail that consists of extreme horror, supernatural elements and topped off with some shiny sci-fi sprinkles, this is your read! If there is anyone out there, if anyone reads this. So far my Elias Witherow reads have proven to be very thought provoking. This book will make you appreciate your privacy and freedom. Where 'The Black Farm' made you appreciate life, 'The Third Parent' will forever change the way you think about the meaning of home invasion. Elias is a master at pulling the reader into these depraved and bone chilling scenario's. I didn't expect it but 'The Third Parent' equals 'The Black Farm'. That same horrific blend is also present in 'The Third Parent'. What the author did so well with 'The Black Farm' is blending extreme horror with the supernatural. 'The Black Farm' turned out to be one of the best books I have read.

'The Third Parent' is my third Elias Witherow book, the first and the second being 'The Black Farm' and 'Return To The Black Farm'. I went in fresh and felt like nothing was missed.Ībsolutely brilliant. As a side note, I believe Tommy Taffy was originally in some other short story, or stories, before this was written, but you do not need to read any of that prior. Elias Witherow is so talented that it makes me feel unworthy of ever putting another word on paper again, especially when it comes to horror.

So be prepared for something like you've never witnessed before. Now this wasn't a traditional horror story, but created its own cosmic twist with an already original terrifying concept. Possibly the scariest thing I could imagine. I imagined myself in the position of both Jack and Mike, and was frozen in fear at the mere thought of being completely unable to save my family from someone as evil as Tommy. Tommy Taffy is truly horrifying and is the absolute epitome of a nightmare. I, being a known deviant and horror-monger (Did I just coin that?), read it all in one sitting, unable to take a break, which is a rarity for me.

So if you do not have a strong stomach and desire to push your boundaries a bit, I would not suggest reading this. The crazy thing is that this story wasn't as gruesome as the Farm books, despite having many vulgar and downright disgusting scenes. His writing is so poignant and crisp, that you can feel yourself in each emotion, action, and setting. From there, things just proceed to get uglier, more intense, and unbearably uncomfortable. Much like with the both Farm books, Witherow weaves you right into his story with a powerful opener. However, The Third Parent sounded like such a bizarre tale that I decided to finally give in and read it. I spent months avoiding another Elias Witherow book, partly because I was afraid that it wouldn't be of the same caliber and I'd be let down. When I read The Black Farm and Return to the Black Farm, I claimed that they were the two best books that I've ever read.
